Welcome Back Letter

Year Six staff are Sam Brett, Lesley Buswell & Eloise Duddy (PM).

The day starts at 8.35am and finishes at 3.15pm. Children are allowed to walk to and from school on their own as long as we have a permission slip.

Our PE days are Tuesday and Fridays and during the Summer Term we also have swimming lessons weekly. Please ensure that on these days your child is wearing the correct PE kit and no jewellery: Black shorts / tracksuit bottoms, white t-shirt, and trainers.

We follow the 2014 Primary National Curriculum and lessons are carefully sequenced to develop and build upon the children’s knowledge, understanding and skills. In Year 6 we encourage a love of learning and provide exciting opportunities such as going on trips and having WOW days to help foster this. The lessons are carefully sequenced to ensure that skills from previous years are built upon and secured. We value each child as an individual learner and help to provide them with the tools needed to progress to the next level of their development. During the Summer Term we work closely with all Secondar schools to ensure that children transition well and feel well prepared. We do this by working on a project called ‘Hero’s Journey’. We promote a love of learning through practical learning experiences and challenge through effective questioning and problem solving. This allows our children to take risks and develop their independence, preparing them effectively for entering Key Stage Three.
