Welcome Back Letter

In Year 5 we follow the 2014 Primary National Curriculum. Lessons are carefully sequenced to develop and build upon the children’s knowledge, understanding and skills. We actively promote a love of learning and provide exciting opportunities such as going on trips and having WOW days to help foster this. We offer each child the ability to challenge, question, problem solve and explain through each part of the day. We are wanting to develop independent, critical thinkers and do this by thinking about our character muscles and how they apply to aspects of our day, in and out of school.

The Year 5 day starts at 8:45am and finishes at 3:15pm. It’s incredibly important to us to have a good relationship between home and school to support your child with all aspects of their learning.

Year 5’s PE days are a Wednesday and Friday, please ensure that your child is wearing their PE kit and come with a water bottle.

Homework will be set and the children will be expected to bring this in weekly. Homework projects are a great way to showcase a child’s talent and share it with others in the class. Spellings will be tested weekly, with a new set being given to your child after their test.

Year Five staff are Hannah Bailey, Devibala Srinivasan,  Aswathi Rajkumar & Krissy Newman.
