Vernon Terrace

About us!

In Reception, we promote a love of learning following the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS).

The EYFS is a statutory framework that sets the standard that all Early Years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children are ready for school and gives them a broad range of knowledge and skills that provides the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.

Our Reception class starts at 8:45 am and finishes at 3:10 am for children age 4 to 5 years old. Our Reception class offers the best start to formal education at Vernon Terrace. We value each child as an individual learner and help to provide them with the tools needed to progress them to the next level of their development. During the morning, we learn and develop our knowledge focusing on literacy or mathematics. In the afternoons, we focus on personal, social and emotional development, knowledge and understanding of the world, physical development, communication and language, and expressive arts and design.

We value a strong partnership between home and School to support your child's learning effectively. Our Reception and Nursery classes work closely together to provide the best possible support for our children.

Mr Robinson is our Reception class teacher and also our Head of Early Years and Assistant Headteacher. We are lucky to also have Mrs Newman, Mrs Murphy, Mrs Maton and Mr Kennedy who also support us with our learning.
