As it is Friday we are celebrating achievement. This week it is a very big well done to Mario who made a brilliant time capsule. He put a lot of thought and care into his design.

21.04.20 It may be tempting to spend a great deal of your time looking at screens. Here are a few ideas of things you can do without a screen which you should enjoy. There is also a document you can access at the bottom of this page.

23.03.20 School Closure Update
All children have been sent home with work for them to complete. They have passwords for all of the apps and educational sites that we use in school and will be set work and challenges for them to complete for however long we are away from school.
On the 3GP Curriculum page is a suggested timetable for each day to ensure that children are encouraged to access daily learning and establish good routines in these challenging times.
Please make contact with Miss Patrick if you require any support or have any questions. Some children have done this already. It's always good to hear from my class and know how you are getting on. Stay safe, keep in touch and hopefully we will all be back together soon.
Week Commencing 24th February 2020
Our new topic is Flow and we have been learning about rivers, how they are made and what lives in them. We created a new display in our class and lots of fish. A group of fish is called a school.
What are the names of the canal and river that flow through Northampton?

Super hero art and making sound effects outside.
Rainbow art and rainbow clay.
We went outside to look for nature.We also made rainbow mosaics and painted rainbow plates.
Megamind writing and comic strips and it was fun. We learned about nature.We did yoga and running. Also we did crazy shopping which was kind of fun learning about money. We did superhero activities and it was awesome.

We also did some bird spotting for the RSPB Big School's Birdwatch.
Writing about Captain Underpants was fantastic and incredible!
Week Commencing 27th January 2020
The children completed some fantastic written work describing Megamind and the choices he made turning from villain into hero. In maths the focus has been on division.
In music the children are working hard to learn songs about heroes and are thoroughly enjoying the singing.
Our future designers have been designing and creating dalmatian sock puppets, developing their sewing skills.
Week Commencing 20th January 2020
The children enjoyed a clue hunt solving riddles and then writing their own. Later in the week they enjoyed a Superhero activity afternoon writing secret messages and role playing being heroes and villains.

We wrote the biography of Cruella De Vil after completing a variety of activities to inspire our work.
Week Commencing 7th January 2020
Our topic for Spring 1 2020 is Heroes and Villains.
The children have been enjoying making masks and learning the Cruella De Vil song as our class book is 101 Dalmatians. We will be writing a biography of Cruella De Vil so we have spent time finding out all about her.
The children have produced some wonderful sketches of dalmatians this week.
We learned about Martin Luther king jr and wrote about him

This week we looked at the water cycle and completed our missing person's reports inspired by George's Marvellous Medicine. We carried out an investigation and enjoyed exploring states of matter as we completed the topic for this term.

School Council Elections took place and Emilis and Sophia are now the Year 3 representatives on the School Council.
Week commencing 21st October 2019
Another busy week in Year 3. We successfully built an 'aqueduct' in the playground and transported our rubber duck along it.
Additionally, we sang to the whole school during assembly.
To finish a busy term off we all took part in a Diwali party and made traditional biscuits and paper crafts to celebrate.

We enjoyed making Roman and Celtic coins out of clay and then painting them in metallic colours.
Week commencing 30th September 2019
Year 3 worked incredibly hard to prepare for Harvest Festival and presented the poem 'Come Little Leaves' to all of the school and parents who attended.
Week commencing 23rd September 2019
We have enjoyed making delicious bread and creating beautiful mosaics in Year 3 this week, along side out writing and mathematical work. We have finished writing our campfire instructions and this will be our last week focusing on number and place value. Next week we will progress onto addition and subtraction.
Week commencing 16th September 2019
We worked hard on writing instructions for how to build a fire. We have been practicing the actions and thinking about the vocabulary we would use. We even had a fire in the school fire pit and toasted marshmallows and bread. We had a visit from Northampton Museum and found out even more about the Romans. We saw some tools the Romans would have used to clean out their ears!
Week commencing 9th September 2019
This week we have been really busy! We explored all about the Romans. We were soldiers fighting the Celts and we tried to make a fire. We made a timeline all about the Roman Empire.
In maths we worked out how many ones, tens and hundreds make up different numbers. We had a very busy week of learning. It was fun and the most we have ever learned in one week! I really enjoyed helping Miss Patrick to draw pictures for our Roman Soldier text map. I drew details of the Roman Soldier.
Week commencing 2nd September 2019
I am delighted to have joined Vernon Terrace as Class Teacher in Year 3 and look forward to what promises to be an exciting year of learning for all of the children. Our first topic is entitled 'I am Warrior' and the focus will be on finding out more about life as a Roman Soldier and linking this into our learning. The children have returned to school eager and ready for learning and are very much enjoying discovering more about life in the Roman Empire and working hard on place value in maths.
From next week the children will take over the writing of the blog.
Our P.E. days are Wednesday and Friday. Please make sure that your child has their P.E. kit in school on these days.
