PERSON SPECIFICATION FOR POST OF TEACHING ASSISTANT
FOR STATEMENTED PUPILS

Weedon Bec Primary School is an ever expanding village Primary school situated
halfway between Northampton and Daventry. There are currently 190 children
on roll, divided into 7 classes. We are looking to appoint a dedicated, kind, caring
and experienced Teaching Assistant to support a child in our Reception class.
The role may also involve organising games and activities as a Play Leader in our
playground at break times.

The candidate must:

• Have a good sense of humour
• Have a love of children
• Enjoy playing with and caring for children
• Have previous experience of working with children with specific
  learning difficulties.
• Have an abundance of patience
• Be adaptable
• Be willing to attend training

It would be great if the candidate had:

• Experience of working with a child with Down’s Syndrome
• Experience of using signing such as Makaton

The Teaching Assistant will be involved in supporting a pupil on a one to one basis
with their learning, the named child has Down’s Syndrome. This support will
also include working alongside other individual children in class, and with small
groups of children when they are withdrawn for learning. It will include some
general classroom support and involvement in the development, implementation
and evaluation of pupils’ individual progress.
